Well, if you think about it, Pizza is the perfect meal. It has the veggies (tomato sauce, garlic, basil), protein (cheese), smart carbs (in this case, our pizza dough is made of whole wheat flour) and healthy fats (olive oil).

This recipes is Perfect for a family meal. You will make the dough and sauce from scratch, and the result is super delicious.

Ingredients:

For the dough: 
  • 1.1 lb whole wheat flour (3 1/3 cups)
  • 2 tsp of instant or active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp of sugar
  • 1 tsp of kosher salt
  • 2 tbsp of organic cold pressed olive oil
  • 1 1/3 cups of water
For the sauce: 
  • 4 tomatos 
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano 
For the topping: 
  • 2 to 3 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Dark olives
  • A few fresh basil leaves

Instructions:

Make the dough: 
1. In one bowl mix the flour, sugar and yeast add the water, salf the oil and stir until a raggy dough forms. 

2. Knead the dough by pushing it with the base of your palm, reforming a ball shape, cover with a damp towel for about 1 hour, until it double in size. 
3.Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and gently press into circle. Add a pinch of flour if it’s too sticky.

Make the sauce:
Place all ingredients in a blender, blend until fully combined. 

Spread the sauce over the dough, add the mozzarella cheese, top with a thin layer of fresh grated Parmesan cheese, fresh basil and olives.
Bake your pizza at 400F, for about 10 minutes. Enjoy!
