Cooking a tomato sauce is so quick and easy you will never need to buy again these jarred pasta sauce full of sugar and preservatives. The ingredients are great (mostly veggies) and you can actually use this sauce as a base for other dished (for example meatballs, or even as a pizza sauce!). My kids really love this sauce (I even put 2-3 more garlic cloves than what the recipe says lol), so try this and let me know how it turned out!

Tip: I always make a double portion of the sauce and keep it in the freezer for a lazy day.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 3 tbsp cold pressed organic olive oil
  • 1/3 cup of water
  • 2 (28-ounce) cans crushed tomatoes

Instructions:

1. Combine the olive oil and the garlic in a large skillet for about 2-3 minutes. Add the onion, salt and oregano. Cook until the onion is soft and add the tomatoes and the water. Cook for about 20 minutes and add the basil. Keep over low heat.

2. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt and the pasta and cook as directed. Reserve 1 cup cooking water.

3. Add the pasta and cup of water to the sauce, as well as some fresh basil. Serve with some drizzled olive oil & Enjoy!
